 Orientators

Orientation Coordinators: Barbara Wright & Brent Byrum

Orientation is your first step in joining our Tyson team.  It’s a great chance for us to get to know each other, face-to-face, before you hit the road.  Our orientation is designed to ensure your continued success as a professional driver here at Tyson Foods.

Orientation Days/Pay:

Orientation will be held at our Transportation Terminal in Springdale, AR.  It is a Monday-Thursday orientation from 7 am- 5 pm.  Upon successful completion, there will be $400.00 orientation pay on your first paycheck.

Transportation, Lodging and Meals:

Transportation

Regardless of where you live, Tyson Foods will provide a prepaid bus ticket to orientation.  If you choose to drive, rent a car, or fly, Tyson Foods will reimburse you for the cost of a roundtrip bus ticket on your first paycheck.  We provide transportation to and from orientation everyday as well.

Lodging

You will be provided with lodging at no cost. It is a single occupancy room, but you can request an additional person with your recruiter. Tyson Foods uses the following hotel for accommodations:

What to expect during orientation:

The process consists of a road-driving test, DOT physical, and drug screening.  You will also become familiar with operational procedures, safety protocol, complete required paperwork, and meet with our friendly staff.

What to expect after orientation:

Orientation normally finishes on Thursday afternoon.  At that time, your orientation coordinators will turn you over to your Driver Manager and your DM will assign your truck and communicate any other pertinent information such as 1st load assignment, etc.  Most of the time, your assigned truck will be here on the Springdale yard, but occasionally you will need to travel to another location to get your truck.  For solo drivers, your DM will be the contact person for any issues you may have.  If you have any questions on logs, regulations or policies, our Driver Support team members are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Student drivers will be assigned a Student Driver Training Coordinator.  They will work closely with your assigned Road Trainer to ensure you receive the most effective training possible to get you the best start on your new career.
